This topic covers the plight of Blacks and methods to restore the Black community.
Looking at the Black community, it isn’t difficult to see the impact of institutionalized racism on people of African descent in the United States of America. We have higher poverty levels, imprisonment, infant mortality, premature mortality, disease, etc. I have some questions I’d like to discuss especially within the context of “The Well” and the impact it can potentially make on the Black community. Is it possible for the plight of Black Americans to change? Has it been changing or staying stagnant? What is being done to improve Blacks? Is there more that can be done that may be more effective?
Joe while I agree that there is a need in the black community, I think some of the issues and problems are the fact that there are:
1. No fathers in the home or should I just say few fathers in the home.
2. The spiritual element is void in homes and communities. Churches but no Godly commitment.
3. whether or not they will be change is really up to societies commitment to each other.
It seems that fatherless homes beget fatherless homes. We have to see how we can support young fathers. Maybe we can promote respect for women and sex as a procreation tool—just some ideas.
